Homemade Satin Flowers Bouquet

Easy Homemade Satin Fabric Flowers

Do you smell Spring in the air yet?

No matter what weather you are having—if the flowers are blooming outside yet or not—you can make your own beautiful Spring flower bouquet!

You won’t believe how easy it is to make these super cute flowers! Satin is the perfect choice to create pretty flower petals. It comes in a variety of vibrant colors and has almost a shine or sheen to it.

Silk flower craft supplies

To make my satin flower bouquet I used:

  • Colored satin fabric
  • Torch lighter
  • Scissors
  • Embroidery thread
  • Buttons
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Heat-safe dish

This is one of those craft ideas that you have to see to believe. Note: adult supervision is suggested for this craft idea since a little bit of fire is involved.

Check out this quick video tutorial for these pretty satin flowers:

Did you know that if you singe the edges of satin fabric, that it will curl up? I found an array of pretty colors at my local JoAnn Fabrics and bought 1/4′ of each. You don’t need much to make these flowers.

I cut different sized circles, singed the edges until they curled creating pretty flower petal looking pieces. Then I strung 3-4 of my new satin flower petals together with a button or two in the center with a little embroidery thread.

To create the flower stem, I attached a pipe cleaner in the middle and bent one side into a leaf shape and twisted it together to create the perfect flower stem.

I love how each one is completely unique, and just as beautiful as the first. This is one of those craft ideas in which you don’t have to cut perfect circles. The more organic, the better.

I put three of them into a pretty vase that will last much longer than fresh flowers for sure!

This would be a great Mother’s Day homemade present, or a fun way to make your own flower centerpiece.

I’ve used this same technique before with my girl, and we created some really cute satin flower headbands. Instead of buttons in the center, we glued some pretty jewels.

We also used this same technique to make a cute shamrock headband for St. Patty’s Day.
