Hello everyone! It’s Bethany from The Southern Couture again, and I am so happy to be back visiting. I hope everyone has survived this cold weather and hopefully now enjoying some Spring weather. I know I am looking forward to the warm sunshine which is why I can’t wait to share this fun craft idea that is perfect to do with your kids too.
One of my favorite holidays is Easter. It is a day full of great memories for me as a child celebrating the resurrection of my Savior, having Sunday dinner with my family, and of course hunting Easter eggs. As a child, it can seem like forever when you are anticipating Christmas morning, a birthday party, etc. So a fun way to help your kids enjoy that time waiting is to have a countdown.
Countdowns are also a fun way to have to show your kids when they keep asking, “How many more days until…?” I decided to use these little treat boxes I found at the Dollar Tree in different Easter and Spring themed patterns for each day. The great thing is that you can add a sweet treat inside each one for them to enjoy. Then once all the treat boxes are open, Easter will have arrived.
What you will need:
- Treat boxes
- Easter grass
- Ribbon
- Candy or small toys
- Number stickers
As I mentioned before I found these treat boxes at the Dollar Tree and couldn’t pass them up. I knew there were so many fun uses for them. The Easter grass also came from the Dollar Tree which I used to fill each treat box like an Easter basket. Place a small candy or toy inside.
*Another fun idea would be to place jelly beans or small candies inside an Easter egg and then place it inside the treat box.
Place a sticker number on each box.
I used 8 boxes but feel free to use any number of days you choose.
Place a bright colored ribbon under the handle of each treat box to stream them all on and then you are ready to hang.
Your kids should have room to open each box while it’s still hanging and get their sweet surprise out.
Also leave each box open in order to know which box is next and keep up with the countdown.
I hope your teens and kids of all ages will enjoy the countdown to Easter and the excitement it brings of a new surprise every day. Plus they will love getting a head start filling up their Easter baskets with whatever fun goodies they find each day.
Let me know what fun traditions your family enjoys every Easter. I would love to hear over at my Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or even on Pinterest.
Be sure to check out some other fun posts I have been up to lately if you enjoyed this one. I would love to have you over!
