I recently stumbled upon and connected with the ladies behind this cool app development and media company called MobiGirls Media. They created this cool app catalog with tween and teen girls specifically in mind. Technology is a huge part of our kid’s worlds, whether we are ready for it or not. I know I have used many apps as teaching tools, like Math Bingo, or as boredom busters on long car rides, like Cupcake Maker. You all know how crafty I am with my tween, but I love technology and use it daily in my own world. I absolutely have some of my own app favorites and games that I play on when I need a mental break.

So what is MobiGirls exactly?

It is a cool free app that catalogs all of the apps that are fun and appropriate for girls. We all know that the appstore is huge, with tons of choices, and as a mother, I don’t let my tween freely roam in the app store herself. I usually recommend apps for her, or she hears about them from her friends.  The MobiGirl app features over 600 of the best apps for girls, organized in categories that make sense for girls, like: Fashion & Style, Shopping, Health & Beauty, Movies & TV, Food Games and more.

I still recommend fun apps for my daughter, but now we can both surf the MobiGirl app and find choices we would have never thought of. I love the concept of having one app that can catalog tween girl-friendly and appropriate choices.

The app does feature ads within the site, but they are also pre-screened and appropriate for girls as well. If a girl sees an ad for an app or product that they want to share with their mom or friends, they can with the “share, save, or fave” feature. This way it doesn’t take girls out of the app and to other stores, but sends suggestions to Mom, in case she wants to visit a particular Etsy store, etc. I love that!

My daughter and I have perused the app, and I know we have both found fun app suggestions that we would have probably never found before. You can see info and screenshots of all the apps, and if you so choose to get an app, it will connect you with the app store on your device.
